About the Project
The 5G-TACTIC – 5G Trusted And Secure Network Services project is funded under the Digital Europe Programme (grant DIGITAL-ECCC-2022-CYBER-03-SEC-5G-INFRASTRUCTURE) and runs from December 2023 to November 2026. Its overarching mission is to strengthen the security, trust, and interoperability of European 5G ecosystems through collaboration among national regulators, cybersecurity authorities, network operators, technology providers, and research institutions.
The initiative brings together a diverse consortium committed to developing secure, open, disaggregated, and interoperable 5G solutions, supporting the emergence of a robust and competitive European 5G landscape. Technical activities include the development of a dedicated 5G cybersecurity toolbox, extensive security analyses, evaluation and testing activities, as well as the design of effective risk-mitigation measures to enhance the resilience of next-generation networks.
The project also undertakes piloting, integration, and evaluation of multivendor open 5G solutions, including Open RAN, with a strong emphasis on security considerations and alignment with future standardization needs. Additionally, 5G-TACTIC conducts specialized training programmes for technical staff, cybersecurity experts, and European regulatory bodies to support knowledge transfer, capacity building, and the adoption of best practices in secure 5G deployment.
